Igbokoda, Nigeria — April 7, 2024 — In a remarkable display of community engagement and environmental stewardship, various organizations including Nigeria Navy Forward Operating Base Igbokoda, Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, Yali Network Hub, Sojitade Foundation, National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) Members serving in Igbokoda, Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EOHAN) - Ilaje Chapter, and National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS) came together for a comprehensive cleanup exercise in Igbokoda.
The initiative, spearheaded by Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative under the leadership of Akingbade Toluwa-Jolomi, brought together a diverse coalition of stakeholders committed to enhancing the environmental quality and community well-being in Igbokoda.
Captain N.W Alushi of Nigeria Navy Forward Operating Base Igbokoda expressed his appreciation for the collaborative effort, stating, "The Nigeria Navy is proud to be part of this impactful initiative aimed at preserving the natural beauty of Igbokoda and promoting a clean and healthy environment for all residents."
Mr. Adegold, Coordinator of Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative Ambassadors, emphasized the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation, remarking, "Through collective action and collaboration, we can achieve significant progress in addressing environmental challenges and fostering sustainable development in our communities."
Miss Morayo Itiolu, Ondo South Coordinator of Yali Network Hub, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of youth engagement in driving positive change. "As young leaders, we have a responsibility to actively participate in initiatives that contribute to the well-being of our communities. Today's cleanup exercise demonstrates our commitment to making a tangible difference in Igbokoda," she stated.
The cleanup exercise saw enthusiastic participation from NYSC Members serving in Igbokoda, represented by CLO Ifa Damilola, who expressed their dedication to community service and environmental preservation.
Mr. Enikanoselu, Head of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EOHAN) - Ilaje Chapter, commended the collaborative effort and emphasized the need for sustained action to address environmental concerns in the region.
Sen. Abejoye Kehinde Bojan, President of the National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS), emphasized the importance of youth engagement and education in promoting environmental sustainability, calling for continued efforts to raise awareness and inspire action among young people.
The cleanup exercise not only showcased the power of collective action but also reinforced the commitment of local organizations and community members to safeguarding the environment and promoting a cleaner, healthier Igbokoda.
